Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Management, Kolhapur established in 1994. Its affiliated to Bharati Vidyapeeth University.
During the last 56 years Bharati Vidyapeeth has made astonishing strides in the field of education, particularly, higher and professional education. Today Bharati Vidyapeeth conducts more than 156 educational units of various kinds’ right from pre-primary schools to postgraduate institutions and a full fledged professional university (BVDU).
Today, Bharati Vidyapeeth has its major campuses in New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Karad, Satara, and Panchgani and at quite a few other places. Bharati Vidyapeeth is probably the only organization from Maharashtra having its campus in the capital city of India. It is not in the urban areas alone that Bharati Vidyapeeth has started its institutions. Its schools and colleges have dotted rural areas and even the remotest tribal and coastal areas of Maharashtra.
Bharati Vidyapeeth runs more than 78 schools and 60 institutions of higher education, including those of professional education. Among these are colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurved, Homeopathy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Law, Biotechnology, Engineering, Management, Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Environment Science, Agriculture, Physical education and more. With a view to promote research activities and to create a research culture on its campuses, Bharati Vidyapeeth has established five specialized research institutes in the areas of Health Related Sciences, Biotechnology, Information Technology, Applied Chemistry and Social Sciences.
Dr. Patangrao Kadam subsequently expanded the scope of his activities and started many other institutions as its sister concerns. They include cooperative units of various kinds, several trusts, quite a few service institutions and even an orphanage.
The corporate office of Bharati Vidyapeeth is located in the prestigious area of Deccan Gymkhana in the city of Pune. Its 10 storied building, once the tallest in Pune, is a landmark of the city. Dr. Kadam has always put premium on the quality of education imparted to the students through the institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth.
He has always emphasized that the students of Bharati Vidyapeeth should get updated and excellent education in a very hospitable and conducive atmosphere. So Bharati Vidyapeeth is very selective about the appointment of its academic staff. It provides enriched infrastructural facilities, well-equipped libraries and laboratories, well-developed and sprawling playgrounds and other amenities in its institutions. There is hardly any school or college of Bharati Vidyapeeth, which does not have its own building.
26th April, 1996 was the moment of crowning glory in the life of Bharati Vidyapeeth, as well as, of Dr. Kadam. It was the day the Government of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, granted the status of "Deemed to be University" to a cluster of 12 institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth in appreciation of their academic excellence. It was the day of a dream comes true for Dr. Kadam who cherished an ambition of gaining the stature of a university for Bharati Vidyapeeth since its inception. Thus, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) came into existence on that day. Unlike most of the Deemed Universities in the country, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) is perhaps one of the largest multi-disciplinary and multi-campus Universities, presently having under its umbrella 32 colleges and institutions of various disciplines.
Within a very short period of fourteen years, Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) has established its credentials and reputation as a leading private University in the country. Taking advantage of the autonomy which it has and the flexibility that it can offer, this University has introduced numerous innovative academic programmes and activities.
VISION, MISSION & OBJECTIVES
Bharati Vidyapeeth is an organization with a difference. It has its own well defined ideological orientation and commitments. Social transformation in a desired direction is one of its cherished goals and it believes that education can be an effective prime mover for such social transformation.
Dr. Patangrao Kadam has very aptly coined "Social Transformation through Dynamic Education" as the official motto of Bharati Vidyapeeth. Education can be an effective instrument of social change, if it is dynamic. This conceptualization of dynamic education at Bharati Vidyapeeth is reflected in the innovative academic programmes and activities carried out in its institutions.
Bharati Vidyapeeth as an educational organization has committed itself:
* To make available quality education in different areas of knowledge to the students as per their choice and the inclination.
* To offer education to the students in a conducive ambiene created by enriched infrastructure! and academic facilties in its campuses.
* To bring education within the reach of rural, tribal and girl students by providing them substantive fee concessions and subsidized hostel and mess facilities.
* To make available quality education to the students of rural, tribal and other deprived sections of the population.
The functioning of all the constituent units of Bharati Vidyapeeth is designed and geared up towards the fulfillment of these commitments.
Dr. Patangrao Kadam has visualized mobilization of resources through cooperation among people as yet another means of social transformation. Towards this aim, he has established various cooperative units as sister concerns of Bharati Vidyapeeth. Among them are a cooperative bank, a cooperative sugar factory, a cooperative poultry farm, cooperative consumer's stores etc. These sister concerns of Bharati Vidyapeeth are organically interlinked with Bharati Vidyapeeth. They contribute a part of their annual profit to Bharati Vidyapeeth for its academic activities.
