Bharathidasan Univeristy Model College (BUMC), Aranthangi was established in 2010.

Bharathidasan University Model College is a co-education which was started at Aranthangi. The college is mainly meant for rural area and educational backward students.

It was started with strength of 166 students enrolled in 3 courses with 11 teaching and 5 non-teaching staff under its roof. Initially the college is functioning in government polytechnic campus, Aranthangi. Permanent building is being constructed in Azhiyanillai near Aranthangi.

For development of the college the UGC sanctioned 2.67 crores and state government sanctioned 5.33 crores.
