Basaveshwar Science College, Bagakot was established in 1967.

Its affiliated to affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad..

It got separated from Basaveshwar Arts College in 1967. College is under the recognition of UGC Act. It is one of the prestigious institute of Shri Basaveshwar Veerashaiva Vidhya Vardhaka Sangha, Bagalkot which was founded by the holiness Shri Gurubasava Mahaswamiji of Biluru in the year 1906, with the opening of a Sankrit Patashala.

Today the Sangha has been running 106 educational institutions and imparting quality education from K.G. to P.G. and even PhD programme in many disciplines. College has adopted modern academic curriculum as per the requirements of the under-graduate stream.
