Barpeta B.T. College, Barpeta was established in 1985 to fulfil the needs and aspirations of a secondary level teachers training college at Barpeta.

It was established largely by the donations of the public. It is one of the oldest Teacher Training Colleges of Assam. It offers regular two years B.Ed. Degree in face to face mode.

The college is affiliated to Gauhati University, Guwahati and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Eastern Regional Committee, Bhubaneswar.

It is a private unaided college, a non-profit institution established with a view to rendering public service. It is a co-educational, non-minority and sel-financed college.

It is located in the suburb of Barpeta town. It is at Jati town near Jail Road in the south-west side 2 K.M. from the heart of Barpeta town. It is accessible by all kind of vehicles that ply from Barpeta town.

The college is managed by the Governing Body which is constituted as per rules laid down in the ordinance of the Affiliating University.

The college has its own spacious building built on its government allotted land measuring eight (8) Bighas. The environment is conducive to education. it is free from all sorts of disturbances.

Since inception the college has achieved academic excellences. It has shown brilliant results. Almost every year many of the students of this college get first Class. The pass percentage has also been very high. Till date it has produced many first class holders, many of its successful trainees have joined Assam educational service and a large number of them have joined various central, state Govt. and private sector schools thus it has been rendering yeoman service to the field of Education.

  College was established with the aim to impart quality teacher training to secondary school teacher of the State of Assam in general and Barpeta District in Particular

• However the students from other state are also accommodated. It wants to increase the number of trained teacher in the state of Assam
• Basically the training aspirants prospective teachers of the district is the target group of the college
• The quality training to each and every trainee student is the top priority. Prospective teacher trainees in pre-service mode are inducted and are to be inducted fro the course in this college
• It is expected that the college will soon be able to train up the required number of trained teacher for the locality. In future the college shall try to enhance the number of seats for a particular session

Rules and Regulations at Barpeta B.T. College, Barpeta:

• The students must come to the college with proper uniform prescribed for them by the college authority
• The use of mobile phone in the classroom is strictly prohibited
• All concerned should maintain decency in words, behaviour and actions in and around the college campus
• Attendance in the class for every student is compulsory as per rule
• The practical parts of the course must be completed by every student on time as determined by the appropriate authority
• Cent percent attendance of every student in the internship (in 2nd year) and Practice Teaching (1st year), Workshops, Seminars, Field trips, Excursion, and any other activities organized by the college as per requirement of the course is compulsory
• Appropriate action will be taken by the college authority against defaulting students as deem fit
• The students must obey all rules and regulations framed and circulated by the concerned authority time to time
• All students should strictly abide by the library as well as laboratories rules
• Raging in all forms are strictly prohibited
