Banwarilal Bhalotia College (BBC), Asansol was established in 1944. It is affiliated to Burdwan University.

Recently the College is accredited by NAAC and evaluated as 'Grade A' College. The main objective of the institute is to provide skill knowledge to people  to make them competent & confident in order to live a healthy and good life  with social values.

The institution is soon going to be declared likely to be declared  as ‘Centre of Excellence’. College has introduced various technological and vocational courses like BCA, BBA, Department of Environment, and Water Management.

It also provides training courses for the Dry farming, Cultivation of Aromatic and Medicinal plants Mushroom, Lac cultivation, Vermicomposting, Sericulture training and soil – water analysis. The institution started these courses mainly for the  coal belt people.  The college runs two study centres for IGNOU and NSOU.

Banwarilal Bhalotia College Central Library is the hub of a wheel whose spokes will reach into the different departments of the college. The College Library was set up at the inception of college i.e. 1944. Presently, the College provides a well-stocked Central Library consisting of 16 departmental/seminar libraries and a Digital Laboratory for digitization of old and rare books to support teaching-learning activities effectively. The College Library has a rich collection of more than 60,000 volumes on different disciplines in the fields of science; humanities and social sciences to equip the students with a wide range of academic resources. Users can access the bibliographic record of the Library through web OPAC in and outside the library campus.
