Bankura Sammilani College, Bankura was established in 1948. It is affiliated to University of Burdwan.

It was established by  the Bankura Sammilani Registered Society, a social service organization, with the noble & prudent vision of propagating higher education among the people of Bankura and neighboring districts. It is populated by financially weaker people of which a good fraction is scheduled caste, schedule tribe and other backward classes people.

College attempts to foster a strong, vibrant, warm and valued relationship amongst the senior and junior students, teaching & non-teaching staff members.

Bankura Sammilani College, established on the 1st September, 1948 by the Bankura Sammilani Registered Society, a Social Service Organization, with the noble & prudent vision of propagating higher education among the people of Bankura and neighbouring districts, populated by financially weaker people of which a good fraction is scheduled caste, schedule tribe and other backward classes people, (SC, ST, OBC) is situated in the hearth of Bankura town, encompassed by the rivers Dwarakeshwar and Gandheswari.

During the 60 years since its inception, the institution has groomed to a high quality, co-educational, multi-faculty (Science, Arts and Commerce) degree college engaged in imparting theoretical, practical and research training to thousands of its students according to the syllabi of the University of Burdwan to which it is now affilated, under the management if a statutory Governing Body, consituted democractically as per guidlines of the Govt. of West Bengal.
