Bajali College, Barpeta was established in 1955.

It is affiliated to Gauhati University.

It is to provide accessibility of women to higher education, imparting science education leading to inculcation of scientific temperament among the rural mass and giving a standing to social needs and relevant assistance to the people of Bajali and its adjoining area.

Bajali is the name of a civil sub-division bearing semi- urban feature with its head-quarter at Pathsala under Barpeta district of Assam.

The area  has age old reputation for its cultural and socio economic factors. Its farmer populace was deprived of higher education till then and there was no institution of higher learning in the entire Bajali area.

Youths aspiring for higher education, were to go out of the area.
