Bahona College, Bahona was established on 15th July, 1966. It is located at Bahona, 9 kms to the North East of Jorhat town toward Nimati Ghat at the river Brahmaputra.
The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh and some of the professional courses are affiliated to Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU), Guwahati and Intermediate / Higher Secondary Courses are affiliated to Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), Guwahati and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.
The college was brought under the system of deficit in the year 1975. Now is has a strength of about 1000 student and 60 teachers and 15 department. Major is offered by all department except Computer Science and Electronics.
This college is the result of a vision of the local people of Bahona and a few distinguished educationists, social activists and political leader of Jorhat to provide higher education to a large number of rural and economically backward students belonging to Bahona and its neighboring areas. What had started as a humble effort to bring the light of knowledge to this back ward area, has now flowered into an institution of recognition rendering quality education to students coming from different parts of Assam. We are committee to continue with the tradition and the vision of our founders.

A student is required to obtain a minimum of 80% attendance of the total lectures delivered on each academic session failing of which he or she will be debarred from appearing in the examination. He or She may also have to forfeit the seat
Any of the following acts by the students will be considered as punishable offence-
(a)Habitual irregularity
(b)Indulgence in any kind of violent activities
(c)Disobedience & indecent behavior toward teachers, non-teaching staff, support staff visitors & the college authority
(d)Damaging, defacing or devaluating any college property
