Babu Shobha Ram Government Arts College, Alwar was established in 1999.

The college is affiliated to the University of  Rajasthan, Jaipur.

The college is the biggest post graduate college of the district.The college has the status of   Model College and is also the Centre for  Excellence.

Students from all over the district aspire for admission in this college as it has a highly competent faculty, rich and fully computerised library and other sound infrastructure necessary for any good educational institution.

To impart higher education to his subjects, Maharaja Raj Rishi Dev established the Raj Rishi College here in 1930.

It came into existence first as an Intermediate College but in the year 1945, it was upgraded to a Graduate College having faculties in Arts and Commerce.
