Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Kottayam was popularly known as B.V.M. Holy Cross College was established in 1995 by the Holy Cross Forane Church, Cherpunkal of Diocese of Palai under the patronage of Palai Diocese.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is situated 200 meters south of Cherpunkal town- 22 km East of Kottayam on Kottayam-Palai route and 7 km's from Palai.

It is an unaided college affiliated with the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Presently there are 6 UG courses and 4 PG courses with 1000 students and 55 Teaching Staff.

The college is managed by Holy Cross Forane Church Educational and Charitable Trust. The objectives of the trust are to render educational service to the students irrespective of caste, creed, religion, and language.

Bishop of Pala is the Ex-officio patron of the Trust and the Vicar of Holy Cross Forane Church is the Ex-Officio president of the Trust and the Manager of the College.

It is a co-educational college, providing regular courses at primarily the higher secondary and undergraduate levels which are located in a rural part of a Cherpunkal played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college has awarded as the best college by the affiliating university and also a number of awards in publication, offering scholarship & also awarded by the different society.

The college offers three years undergraduate & two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, & Management streams with optional specializations under the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. It also offers Vocational & Add-On Certificate courses.

The college also has a Contact Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi to offer UG, PG, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma & Add-On Certificate Courses through distance mode.
