Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar (Dist. Hoshiarpur) was also known as B.A.M. Khalsa College, Garhshankar established in July 1969 and managed by S.G.P.C. (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Shri  Amrisar Sahib).

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone in the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Panjab University, Chandigarh and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) in August 1971 & 12(B) under Act, 1956.

It is re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade (CGPA Score 2.31 on a 4 Point  Scale in 2nd Cycle) on 25th May 2016.

The college aims at the harmonious all-round development of the students in the field of art, literature, science, commerce, computer education, games, sports, co-curricular and youth activities.

The college was started in the name of Guru Nanak Education Council and later it was renamed as Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College Society, Garhshankar and managed by local committee but later on, it was taken over by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak committee Shri Amritsar Sahib (S.G.P.C.). Therefore the society was taking over the direct control of B.A.M. Khalsa College at Garhshankar in 1982

It is a co-educational self-financed private college, providing a regular course which is located in an urban part of a Hoshiarpur played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the Admission Criteria prescribed by the Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses in Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) with various specializations under Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The college also offers two years postgraduate courses in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams with various specializations to the students. It offers self-financed and certificate courses as well.
