About Archbishop Powathil Assumption Community College
Archbishop Powathil Assumption Community College (APACC), Changanacherry (Dist. Kottayam) is an extension wing of Assumption College, Changanassery was established in 2005 and is the means through which assumption college reaches out to the specific needs of the community.
It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.
It is designed in accordance with the policy adopted and recommended by the National Policy of Education(NPE) and UGC with a view to find a remedy for the lack of social commitment in higher education and to generate employability in the unreached sector of the community.
The college is affiliated with the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
APACC is registered under Madras Centre for Research and Development of Community Education [MCRDCE], Chennai - the Co-ordinating Agency of all Community Colleges in India.
It is a co-educational, providing regular courses at primarily the higher secondary and undergraduate levels which are located in a rural part of a Changanacherry played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.
In 2007, NAAC considered APACC “the jewel in the crown of Assumption”.APACC was registered as Akshaya Centre collaborating with the IT Mission, Govt. of Kerala and awarded for community education by Rotary International in 2008.
In 2011, Assumption Day Care Centre was launched by APACC. Currently, Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs (FIWE) has been launched and Assumption Social Business Incubation Centre for Women also inaugurated by it in 2013.
APACC also got registered with AWAKE Society(Assumption Women Association of Knac Entrepreneurial Charitable Society) in 2013.
The college offers UGC sponsored Career Oriented, Diploma, Training, Shorterm, & Add-On Certificate courses for the aspiring students, housewives, homemakers etc.

- The college has a library with a good number of books (both text and reference) on various subjects to meet the needs of the students as well as the teachers with reading room facility. Daily Newspapers and selected journals are also regularly subscribed
- State of the Art Laboratories with sufficient space and all the necessary equipment are made available to various departments
- The college has taken up the responsibility of imparting necessary, effective and practical education to the students so that they can reach great heights and attain maximum achievements in their life
- The college runs a canteen inside the campus where staff and students can have meals and snacks prepared in a hygienic manner and at an affordable cost
- Internet & Wi-Fi facilities may be availed by the students and teachers as per their needs

- The college also has a hostel by providing all the facilities, security and good atmosphere, best suited for studies of the boys & girls coming from far-off places
- The college has a large playground with well-equipment for different sports
- A medical facility has been available in the college for the benefit of the students
- State Government and Central Government offers a number of scholarships to the meritorious students and the students belonging to SC / ST / OBC
- A special complaint cell (Sexual Harassment Cell) has been formed for the female students in the college. Students can directly complain orally or by written application to the head of the cell. Apart from this, Ragging is strictly prohibited on the college campus
- The institution has provided ICT facilities like computers, projectors, audio-visual gadgets, scanners and printers to the departments and also other aids and a huge number of availability of books for effective delivery of curriculum and for inculcating the knowledge of the subject
- To sharpen the skill of students and their personality development, various curricular and extra-curricular activities are the regular features of the institution
- The college also organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences for improving teaching skills and methodology
