Annasaheb Awate Arts, Commerce, Hutatma Babu Genu Science College Manchar was established on 20th June 1966 in memory of a veteran educationist and social activist Annasaheb Awate and managed by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha (R), which was established in 1919.

It is one of the premier colleges established to impart & provide in the field of higher education for the deserving candidates and prove to be a milestone on the part of progress.

The college is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) & 12(B) on 30th December 1969 under Act, 1956.

It is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "B" Grade.

The aim of the college is to upliftment, development, and progress of the Bahujan community of Maharashtra also founding a boarding for the poor students and the students from the downtrodden communities and then went on opening primary schools, high schools, higher secondary schools, colleges and institutions for technical education etc.

It is a co-educational self-financed Institute, provided a regular course in which is located in the rural part of Pune played a pioneering role in the field of higher education.

The institution rose up to greater heights due to the unprecedented contributions of Bhaurao Patil in the realm of education. Annasaheb Awate whose name has been given to this college was a veteran educationist and a social reformer of this region besides, the science faculty is named after Hutatma Babu Genu.

The college conferred the status of grant-in-aid college that the fees and all the facilities for the students are fixed by the government. The student's admission is done as per the admission criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

The college had received many awards and accolades at a city, state and national level for their educational advancements also received the numbers of achievements awards in the field of sports and curricular activities under Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune.

The college offers three years undergraduate courses and two years of postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams with various specializations under Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. It also offers Ph.D. and Add-On Certification.

Students should have to choose one honor (core) subject with two or more as subsidiary (elective) subjects for the specific undergraduate streams.

The college also offers distance education mode courses under Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik.

University examinations of different courses, examinations conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and various other examinations are held in the college premises.
