Annamal College of Education for Women, Thoothukudi was established in 1962, the government-aided college of education was initially affiliated to Madras University and then to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.

Presently, the N.C.T.E (National Council for Teacher Education) approved college is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University.

Set up with an objective of equipping women teachers to face the future challenges, the college has equipped itself with state-of-the-art facilities in their campus.
