Amdanga Jugal Kishore Mahavidyalaya(AJM), North24 Parganas is a private, affiliated college. The college is affiliated to the Calcutta University.

The college is providing higher quality education to the students and excels in areas pertaining to their all round development and up gradation of society at large. The aim of the college is to cater the needs of the rural youths of Bengal. The college offers the under graduate courses in disciplines of Arts.

It is the oldest of the modern universities in India. It is the only university in India which produced four Nobel laureates and has ranked consistently amongst the first five hundred universities in the world. It was the first modern university in the Indian subcontinent.

It has been declared as a "Five Star University" and a "Centre with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Amdanga Jugal Kishore Mahavidyalaya commenced its journey on 20th July, 2007 with the noble aim of imparting higher education to young people predominantly hailing from remote villages. Situated in a bucolic background this college has been instrumental in offering multiple opportunities to the rural students and opening for them numerous doors to advancements.

The college presently houses a sizeable library. Relevant academic books, as well as books pertaining to the interest of young learners are freely available to the pupils of the college. The collection of text books is quite diverse and expansive. There is a prompt and smoothly functioning system of borrowing and returning books from the library. New books are regularly purchased to keep abreast of developments in the curriculum. Irregular lending and returning of books are fined by the college. A complete digitization of the library as per “KOHA” norms is soon to take effect in this college. This will make the college library more accessible to the students.

Further, the newly revamped library shall offer computer facilities for the students.

The college pursues a dedicated mission to realize its lofty vision. It is the mission of this college to eradicated all barriers and limitations imposed by caste, creed, religion and economic status. Special attention is rendered towards developing technical competency among the students and in nurturing their creativity. To achieve this end, the college not mealy obtains a meticulous academic schedule, but also involves the students in community outreach programme to foster a group of ethical young men who are as at home with their studies as with various social projects for the welfare of the rustic population.
