Al-Kabir Polytechnic (AKP), Jamshedpur was established in 1990 and has been managed by Kabir Welfare Trust to benefit the minority and other backward communities of the Chhotanagpur region as well as the rest of the nation. Al-Kabir Polytechnic is recognized by State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Govt. of Jharkhand and approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India.

Al-Kabir Polytechnic is one of the units of Kabir Welfare Trust (KWT). It was born out of the relentless effort and vision of the trustees of Kabir Welfare Trust, under the chairmanship of Late Haji Abdul Hakim. Kabir welfare trust is a society established under society registration act 1860. The Al-Kabir Polytechnic was established in the year 1990 with the financial aid of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Jeddah. Since then this premier institute has been offering three years diploma course in six brnaches of engineering with great passion and zeal.

• The idea was conceived and after much sweat and toil, K.W.T. achieved its goal and Al-Kabir Polytechnic was established in 1990.

In brief, the institute is actively partnering government initiatives of social development and self dependence. On and off the institute has also been engaging with other organizations for vocational training and employment for its students.

Since its inception, Al-Kabir Polytechnic has established its reputation as a talent pool for the industries as well as the degree colleges for higher education.

True to its name, Kabir Welfate Trust, has been committed to the welfare of the society particularly that of the backward classes and the minorities. Forging ahead its philanthropic vision, the trust envisions offering to the society a university in the near future. The College campus spread over an area of 12 acre is located in Kabirnagar, having covered area of over 1 lac sqft. It has a magnificent two story Main College Building accommodating Administrative offices, Classrooms, Drawing halls, Library, Laboratories etc, with a beautiful Garden adoring it, a well equipped Workshop,play Ground.
