The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official marking scheme papers for Classes 10 and 12 for the 2026 - 27 academic session. Covering both theoretical and practical aspects, the marking scheme allocates a total of 100 marks per subject, divided among theory, practicals, projects, and internal assessments.

A list of subjects for classes 10 and 12 with the relevant information is included as an attachment to the board's circular for the purpose of helping the schools conduct theory exams and practical/project/internal assessments more smoothly. For class 10 and class 12, the marking scheme is provided for 83 and 121 subjects, respectively.
For class 10 subjects like music, painting, computers, retail, information technology, security, and an introduction to financial markets, among others, the practical marks are 50. For courses like English, Hindi, math, science, and social science, the internal assessment marks is 20. Subjects such as Geography, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Physical Education have practical marks of 30 in class 12.
Subjects including commercial art, dance, home science, painting, graphics, and sculpture have a practical mark of 50.
