Schools In Haryana To Remain Shut Till November 30 As Over 150 Students Test Positive For COVID-19

A day after more than 150 students tested positive for COVID-19, the Haryana government has decided to shut all government as well as private schools till November 30 in the view of COVID-19 situation.

As per reports, over 150 students have tested COVID positive from three districts in the state with authorities mulling at closure of schools and educational institutes for a few days to contain the spread of pandemic.

Students from classes 9 to 12 who tested positive for COVID-19 are said to be in a stable condition with most placed under home quarantine and the state health department monitoring their status.

Confirming the same, Deputy Commissioner Yashender Singh told PTI, "All the children are stable, they are under home isolation. Medical teams are at the job and regularly monitoring their health. The students are of classes 9 to 12."

According to official sources, "While 91 students from 13 schools in Rewari district have tested positive for Covid-19, 30 students and 10 teachers of various schools in Jind district too have contracted the infection. Thirty-four students and two teachers from the Jhajjar district were also found infected with the virus," as reported by India Today.

Speaking on the issue, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said, the health department teams will conduct testing of students and staffers across all schools and assured of stern action against those institutions not complying with the government-issued SOPs with diligence.

It may be noted that the Haryana government had reopened schools from November 2 for students from classes 9 to 12 who were permitted to attend the lessons with prior consent of parents issued to the schools.
