SSC CPO 2026 Notification Released: Applications Open for Sub-Inspector Posts

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026 (SSC CPO 2026). The online application process has started, allowing eligible candidates to apply for Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police and various Central Armed Police Forces.

SSC CPO 2026 Notification Released

Candidates can submit the SSC CPO 2026 application form from September 10 to September 30, 2026 through the official SSC website. The recruitment notification contains details regarding vacancies, eligibility, application fee, examination pattern and selection process.

SSC CPO 2026 Vacancy Details

The recruitment drive includes Sub-Inspector posts in Delhi Police and CAPFs, along with Sub-Inspector (Fire) posts in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Based on the category-wise figures provided in the notification, the tentative vacancies include 317 posts in Delhi Police, 1,467 SI (GD) posts in CAPFs and 234 SI (Fire) posts in CISF.

The total number of tentative vacancies listed across these posts is 2,018.

SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

For Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and SI (GD) in CAPFs, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.

For SI (Fire) in CISF, candidates are required to have a bachelor's degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or a three-year diploma in specified engineering disciplines along with the prescribed qualification.

The age limit for most posts is 20 to 25 years as on August 1, 2026. For SI (Fire) in CISF, the age limit is 18 to 30 years. Age relaxation will be applicable to eligible candidates according to government rules.

Male candidates applying for the Delhi Police SI post must also have a valid Light Motor Vehicle driving licence covering motorcycle and car on the date of the physical endurance and measurement tests.

SSC CPO 2026 Salary and Pay Scale

The SI posts in CAPFs carry Pay Level 6, with a salary range of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400. The posts are classified as Group B, Non-Gazetted and Non-Ministerial. The Delhi Police and CISF posts carry the classification specified in the recruitment notification.

SSC CPO 2026 Exam Pattern and Selection Process

The SSC CPO selection process comprises Paper-I, Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper-II and Detailed Medical Examination.

Paper-I consists of 100 questions carrying 200 marks, while Paper-II comprises 200 questions for 200 marks. The examination covers areas including Reasoning, General Knowledge and Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension. Negative marking will apply as prescribed by SSC.

SSC CPO 2026 Application Fee

The application fee is ₹100. Women candidates, candidates belonging to SC and ST categories, and eligible Ex-Servicemen are exempted from paying the fee.

The last date for payment of the application fee is October 1, 2026. The application correction window will be available from October 8 to October 10, 2026. SSC will announce the Computer-Based Examination dates separately.
