UPSC Geo-Scientist 2027 Vacancy Details

The recruitment drive covers several technical and scientific posts under GSI and CGWB. The vacancies include 29 Geologist posts, seven Chemist posts and 34 Assistant Geologist posts in the Geological Survey of India. There are also 35 Assistant Geophysicist and six Assistant Chemist vacancies.

Under the Central Ground Water Board, the vacancies include five Scientist 'B' posts in Hydrogeology, one Scientist 'B' post each in Chemical and Geophysics, along with seven Assistant Hydrogeologist, one Assistant Chemist and one Assistant Geophysicist post. No vacancy has been listed for the Geophysicist, Group 'A' post in GSI.

UPSC Geo-Scientist 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess the prescribed postgraduate qualification for the post they are applying for. Depending on the position, eligible qualifications include master's degree or integrated master's degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Geophysics, Physics, Chemistry, Hydrogeology and other specified subjects.

Candidates are advised to check the post-wise educational qualification in the official notification before submitting the application, as eligibility requirements vary between different posts.

UPSC Geo-Scientist 2027 Age Limit

Candidates must generally be between 21 and 32 years of age as on January 1, 2027. Accordingly, applicants should have been born between January 2, 1995, and January 1, 2006, subject to the applicable category-wise age relaxation rules.

Relaxation in the upper age limit will be available to eligible candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government regulations.

UPSC Geo-Scientist 2027 Application Fee

Male candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of Rs 200. Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwBD categories are exempt from payment of the examination fee.

UPSC Geo-Scientist 2027 Exam Dates

The selection process will be conducted in three stages - Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Personality Test/Interview. The UPSC Geo-Scientist Preliminary Examination 2027 is scheduled to be held on January 10, 2027.

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination will be eligible to appear for the Main Examination scheduled for June 19 and 20, 2027. Candidates clearing the Main Examination will subsequently proceed to the Personality Test stage.

Candidates applying for the first time need to complete the Universal Registration Number (URN) profile and Common Application Form on the UPSC online portal.
