It is home to some of the country's most prestigious educational and research Institutions, including the Indian Institute of Science, The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, and the National Law School of India University. Karnataka has 481 degree colleges that are linked with one of the state's universities: Bangalore University, Gulbarga University, Karantaka University, Kuvempu University, Mangalore University or Mysore University. The state has two major entrance examinations for engineering and medical admissions: KCET and COMEDK, Karnataka Examination Authority Administers the KCET, a national level undergraduate medical and engineering entrance test. The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) administers the COMEDK UGCT for admission to undergraduate Engineering, Medical and Dental Programs.
