CBSE Class 10 Carnatic music (vocal) Syllabus for 2026-27

The CBSE Class 10 Carnatic Music (Voca) Syllabus is intended to give students an in-depth insight into and love for South Indian Classical Music. The emphasis of this course is on cultivating basic ideas such as sruti, raga, and tala, as well as touching upon the Carnatic voice applied skills and expressive components. Students perform practical exercises, such as exercises in songs (Sarali, Varisai, Janta Varisai) and exercise in patterns called Alankaras, as well as learning simple songs such as Geethams, Swarajatis, and Varnams. Honing vocal techniques like modulation, controlling breath, and pitch accuracy is an important aspect of the programme. Moreover, it also teaches improvisionational abilities in Kalpana Searas (improvised solfege) and Alapana (melodic improvisation).
