Most of the students know that the admissions to the medical colleges in India will be done only through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). After the release of the NEET results, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), conducts the counselling event for NEET for 15% of All India Quota (AIQ). Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research originated as École de Médicine de Pondichérry and was established by the French Government in the year 1823.
7. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi
The Institute of Medical Sciences in BHU started functioning as College of Medical Sciences in 1960. It is one of the three institutes of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India, and comprises of three faculties. The Faculty of Medicine is responsible for conducting medical courses. The university also offer postgraduate diploma courses along with MBBS, BSc, MD and MS courses.
8. Institute Of Liver And Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi
The institute was founded in 2009. The autonomous institute is dedicated for liver and biliary diseases. This is a private institute and is approved by UGC and Medical Council of India (MCI).
9. Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh
The university was established in 1877 and is one of the oldest medical institutes in India. The Faculty of Medicine, which was affiliated to AMU, established in 1993, looks after the medical courses. The Master of Chirurgiae in plastic surgery is a popular course in the institute.
10. Sri Ramachandra Medical College And Research Institute, Chennai
The institute was established in 2005 and is affiliated to SRM Institute of Science and Technology. This medical college is famous for providing world-class infrastructure and laboratories for research.

The University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) was established in 1971 as a constituent college of University of Delhi. It imparts various medical and paramedical courses. Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital is the associated teaching hospital with 1000 beds. UCMS is known for its quality research.
