Commonly known as ILBS, Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences was established in 2009 and functioning as an autonomous body established by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
Being the only Live University, ILBS was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with "A" Grade - (CGPA Score 3.03 on a 4 Point Scale in 1st Cycle) on July 19, 2017.
ILBS is a 'Deemed University' under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and it aspires to become a unique model for an academic career both for the national and international students and the faculty.
The foundation of ILBS was laid with a vision to provide the highest quality of medical education and training. At present, ILBS has emerged as a young pioneering institution with four patient care, teaching and research.
ILBS is unique in nurturing a vibrant academic hub for liver-centric teaching and training programmes. The institute attracts best of the national talent and the contributions made by ILBS in hepatitis research received international recognition by World health organization (WHO).
ILBS with a total strength of more than 500+ staff and has about 70 specialised faculties. A large number of specialised nursing staff and technical expertise offer customized care for every inpatient and outpatient.
ILBS runs long-term courses/training programs leading to D.M., M. Ch., Ph.D., Fellowships and other degrees. The institute already has been granted the status of a Deemed University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for conducting such courses.
ILBS offers training programs for super-specialities related to Hepato-Biliary and Pancreatic Sciences through the Post-Doctoral 3 years courses: DM in Hepatology, Paediatric Hepatology, Organ Transplant Anaesthesia and Critical Care; and M.Ch. in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery.
The degree programmes are duly approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi. Apart from these degree courses, students are being trained in postdoctoral certificate courses which are of a year’s duration.
