Seat Allotment Procedure During JoSAA Counselling

With the announcement of the JEE Advanced results, the doors are now open for the counselling procedure. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the single platform which is responsible for the seat allotment and counselling procedure of both JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The registration and choice filling for academic programs under JoSAA start from June.

Seat Allotment In JoSAA Counselling

After the filling and locking of choices, the mock allotments will take place. The mock allotment is the final chance for the students to change their choices. Once the mock allotment is done, the final seat allotment takes place. The seat allotment takes place in several rounds and JoSAA will release the cut-off ranks for each round.

The seat allotment will be done based on their preferred choices and rank that includes both category and general ranks. Students who are allotted seats have to report to their nearest reporting centre and pay the required admission fee to secure a seat. Students can even opt for the internal sliding and locking as well based on the institution.

What After The First Round Of Seat Allocation In JoSAA Counselling

Not all the seats will be filled after the first round of the JoSAA counselling. In case you not secured a seat during the first round, wait for the further rounds because major changes will take place from the second round of the seat allocation. Prior to the second round of the seat allocation, many students change their mind and do not pay the acceptance fee. Hence, it is better to stay calm without getting demoralised.

What After Seat Acceptance In JoSAA Counselling

Once you made your mind to accept the seat, you need to pay the seat acceptance fee through SBI e-Challan/SBI Net Banking/SBI Debit Cards. After the fee payment, verify the documents at any reporting centre for provisional seat acceptance. A candidate can withdraw the seat by reporting at a reporting centre. However, this is possible only up to the sixth round of seat allocation process.
