Alternative Academic Calendar For Secondary Stage

Union Education Minister has informed that the Alternative Academic Calendar (AAC) for the next 8 weeks for the Secondary Stage was launched. The Alternative Academic Calendar for 12 weeks for primary & upper primary stages and AAC for secondary & higher secondary stages for 4 weeks had already been released.

He tweeted, This Calendar contains all the detailed guidelines for teachers on the use of technology & social media tools to impart education while the students are at home. The Calendar further aims to empower our students, teachers, school principals & parents with positive ways to deal with #Covid19 via online teaching-learning resources and achieve the best possible learning outcomes."

HRD Minister tweeted, "Alternative Academic Calendar for upper primary stage (Classes VI to VIII) for four weeks was released earlier. I have launched the academic calendar for the next eight weeks today."

NCERT Alternative Academic Calendar (Primary)

The official NCERT website reads, "In this period of Covid-19, which is declared as a global pandemic, our teachers, parents, and students have to remain at homes to prevent its spread in the community. In this situation, it is our responsibility to provide them with multiple alternative ways of learning at home through interesting activities. It is necessary because in the present environment of stress we have to not only keep our children busy but also to maintain continuity of their learning in their new classes. In this context, NCERT has developed an Alternative Academic Calendar for all the stages of school education."

To continue the teaching-learning process during the Coronavarius, HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' released a new alternative academic calendar for primary classes.

NCERT Alternative Academic Calendar (Upper Primary)

The CBSE has released a notice regarding the availability of alternative calendar for primary and upper classes.

The notice reads, "NCERT has published alternative calendars for classes I-X to retain continuity of learning in new classes and provide multiple ways of learning at home through interesting activities. These four week calendars are suggestive and flexible and will be extended further if need be. The themes/topics have been selected from syllabus and are linked with the learning outcomes. Guidelines have been developed for conducting interesting activities based on these learning outcomes."

NCERT Alternative Academic Calendar (Secondary)

The NCERT has released the Alternative Academic Calendar for Secondary school students. HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted on the same. The CBSE alternative academic calendar 2020-21 releases for Classes 9 and 10.

HRD Minister tweeted, "My dear Secondary School students, I am releasing Alternative Academic Calender today, for your benefit. During the lockdown period, you can use this calender for week-wise planning, with reference to theme/chapter taken from syllabus or textbook. http://ncert.nic.in/aac.html"

NCERT Alternative Academic Calendar (Higher Secondary)

HRD Minister tweeted, "Released The Alternative Academic Calendar for Classes XI and XII developed by @ncert today! This Calendar directs teachers on the use of various technological tools/social media tools to educate students while they are at home. #covid19"

He also tweeted, "The calendar will cater to the needs of all children including Divyang children (Children with Special Need)- link for Audiobooks, Radio programmes, Video programmes, etc. will be included. This will empower our students, teachers, school principals, and parents to find out positive ways to deal with Covid-19 using on-line teaching-learning resources and help in the attainment of learning outcomes. In the letter to Principals, CBSE Chairperson Anita Karwal has asked school principals to reinvent education processes to manage the academic activities in situations like Coronavirus (COVID-2019).

The notice reads, "It is strongly advised to follow the alternative academic calendar for students of classes 1 to 12 which is being developed by NCERT. We will be sharing this with you shortly. This calendar is specially developed around activities that will help attain Learning Outcomes in a joyful manner. This calendar also suggests ways and means to use technology to aid and facilitate this process of learning."

CBSE Chairman has asked the school heads to make use of the digital learning/ e-learning platforms provided by the HRD Ministry. She also asked to share the innovative timetables, content, assignments, question banks, etc., so that the efforts do not remain limited to a single school.
