Over the course of two enriching days, the Yoga National Conclave 2025, held at Vethathiri Maharishi College of Yoga in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, brought together a diverse group of more than 350 delegates. This conclave, aimed at discussing "Modern Trends in Yoga and Integrated Medicine Systems," served as a monumental platform for learning and networking. Among the attendees were major institutional representatives, associate centres, life members of the Indian Yoga Association, as well as special invitees from various parts of India. The gathering provided an unparalleled opportunity for participants to delve into a series of discussions led by 30 distinguished speakers across 10 sessions. Acharya Dr. Shreevarma, Chairman of the Sub-Committee IYA Tamil Nadu, took the opportunity to honor notable figures such as Dr. M. Ragavendra Rao, Director, Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy, New Delhi, Dr. Kambhampati Subrahmanyam, Chancellor, S-VYASA (Yoga University) Bengaluru, and Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Joint Secretary, Indian Yoga Association, among others. The inaugural session of the conclave was graced by Thiru. MA. Subramanian, Hon'ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu. In his address, he highlighted the significant strides made by his ministry in healthcare and shared his personal journey of recovery and transformation through yoga. Having participated in 160 marathons worldwide, despite a knee condition, he attributed his physical and mental fitness to yoga and the teachings of Vethathiri Maharishi. His story served as a powerful testament to yoga's healing and strengthening capabilities.
Event Leadership and Contributions
Padma Shri A/N. SKM Maeilanadhan, Chairman of Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee of Indian Yoga Association and President of the World Community Service Centre, Aliyar, presided over both the opening and closing ceremonies of the conclave. His leadership underscored the significance of yoga in fostering a healthier society and spotlighted the efforts in making yoga accessible to various demographics, including school children and pregnant women. On the concluding day, Shri. Subodh Tiwari, Secretary-General, Executive Council, Indian Yoga Association, delivered the valedictory address, outlining the association's achievements and future goals.
The event was also supported by several key figures who played vital roles in its success. Rajeshwari Prabhakaran, Senior Vice-Chairman of Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee of Patanjali Yog Peeth, Haridwar, extended a warm welcome to the attendees. Dr. R. Elangovan, Secretary of the Indian Yoga Association, Tamil Nadu State Chapter, presented the committee's report, showcasing the progress and initiatives undertaken. The conclave's seamless execution was made possible through the collective efforts of these dedicated individuals, ensuring a memorable experience for all involved.
