West Bengal Class 10 And Class 12 Board Exams 2021 Cancelled

The West Bengal government has cancelled the state board class 10 and class 12 examinations 2021 on Monday due to the current Covid-19 situations. The Madarasah board exams in West Bengal have also been cancelled.

West Bengal chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, has instructed the state education department to look into how the evaluation process may be done and the results be declared on time so that students do not suffer.

In the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, the state sought public opinions on whether and how to hold class 10 and class 12 board exams. The State chief minister announced the cancellation of board exams through the official Twitter handle.

The government received almost 34000 emails until 2 p.m. on Monday. About 79 percent of students of Class 10 were against board exams, while 83 percent of students of Class 12 said no to board exams.

The state government recently appointed an expert committee to review the Covid-19 situation and determine whether and how board exams should be held in these circumstances.

While the committee of experts considered and debated the subject, the government also sought input from the general public, parents, and students on whether or not exams should be held.

West Bengal's announcement of the timetable for class 10th and 12th board exams was pushed up at the last minute on Wednesday, a day after the CBSE and ISC boards cancelled the class 12 board examinations due to the threat to children's health due to the ongoing second wave of the Covid pandemic across the nation.
