VTU students want more attempts to clear engineering exams

More than 40 VTU students has started protesting against Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum and has started demanding that they be allowed to sit for the examination. examination.

According to VTU, these students had failed to clear the engineering exams in the stipulated time and hence ther authorities had decided to bar them from appearing for further examinations.

Students said that, it is not fair to give only 8 attempts to clear the examination, while their seniors had 15 attempts to clear the examination.

One of the student was quoted saying, "The varsity has failed to understand the students' future and their career by reducing the number of attempts."

As per the VTU rule, all students who join for engineering courses in any of the engineering colleges under VTU have to complete their degree in 8 academic years.

Similarly, if any of the student who join the engineering course through lateral entry (diploma candidates) have to clear their degree in 6 academic years. As per the rule, this rule is applicable for the students who joined for the engineering courses after 2006.

For the Architecture courses, candidates have to pass the degree in 10 academic years.

According to the latest information, VTU has given extra time for the students to complete their B.E degrees.

On August 5, 2014, VTU had sent letter to all the affiliated colleges, that the number of attempts to the students to complete their degree has been reduced.
