The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has officially declared the UP Board Class 12 results for 2025. Students who feel that their results do not accurately reflect their performance have the opportunity to apply for revaluation or scrutiny of their answer sheets.

This process allows students to request a recheck of their marks and ensure that any discrepancies in the evaluation are corrected. Here is a detailed guide on how to apply for revaluation or scrutiny after the result declaration.
What is Scrutiny?
Scrutiny is a process designed to recheck the answer sheets for clerical errors, such as mistakes in the addition of marks, or to ensure that all answers have been evaluated. It is important to understand that scrutiny does not involve reassessing the content of the answers or the quality of the responses; it is purely a method to verify that marks have been correctly calculated and awarded. If there is any error in totaling the marks or if a question was missed, scrutiny can help rectify that.
What is Revaluation?
Revaluation, on the other hand, is a more comprehensive and thorough process. This involves an independent examiner reassessing the entire answer sheet. Students may request revaluation if they believe their paper was not evaluated correctly. Revaluation provides an opportunity for a detailed review of the answers, and in cases where the initial evaluation was flawed, students may receive additional marks. This process is more involved than scrutiny and is offered when students feel that their paper was not evaluated adequately.
Steps to Apply for Scrutiny and Revaluation
1. Visit the Official Website:
Students must visit the official UPMSP websites (upresults.nic.in or upmsp.edu.in) to access the application forms for scrutiny and revaluation.
2. Fill Out the Application Form:
The scrutiny or revaluation form requires basic details such as roll number, school code, subjects to be scrutinized or revalued, and other necessary information.
3. Pay the Fee:
A fee of ₹500 per subject is required for both scrutiny and revaluation applications. The fee must be paid through a challan, which will be provided on the website. Payment should be made at the state treasury.
4. Submit the Application:
After completing the application form and making the payment, students must print out the form and challan, then send them via registered post to the respective regional office of UPMSP.
Important Dates and Timeline
- Start of Application: Applications for scrutiny and revaluation generally open a few days after the result declaration.
- Application Deadline: Students typically have 15-20 days to apply after the results are declared, so it's crucial to meet this deadline.
- Scrutiny/Revaluation Results: The results of the scrutiny or revaluation process are usually released within 4-6 weeks after the application period closes.
After the scrutiny or revaluation process, students may see one of three outcomes:
- Increased Marks: If there was an error in totaling or a missing evaluation, students may see an increase in their marks.
- Decreased Marks: In rare cases, the recheck could result in a decrease in marks if the original evaluation was overly generous.
- No Change: If everything was accurate in the initial evaluation, students may see no change in their marks.
In the case of increased marks, students will receive a new marksheet reflecting the updated scores, and these revised marks will be considered final.
Grievance Redressal
If students still have concerns after the scrutiny or revaluation process, UPMSP provides a grievance redress system. Students can submit their grievances in writing, along with any necessary documentation, to the regional office. The grievance cell at UPMSP will then review the issue and take appropriate action if necessary.
This system ensures that students have a platform to raise valid concerns that may not have been resolved through scrutiny or revaluation.
