The Tripura government has declared a four-day holiday for all government and government-aided schools starting Wednesday due to the ongoing heatwave in the state.

In a notice released on Tuesday, N C Sharma, the Additional Secretary of the Education (School) Department, instructed all district education officers to inform schools in their respective areas about the decision.
This announcement followed a press release from the Revenue Department, indicating that Tripura has been experiencing hot and humid weather for a week. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), these conditions are expected to persist. The IMD forecasts maximum and minimum temperatures of 38 and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively, for the next 24 hours. The Tripura government has categorized heatwave, sunstroke, and sunburn as state-specific disasters.
The Tripura revenue department has instructed all district disaster management authorities to carry out comprehensive awareness campaigns via various media channels. They are also tasked with keeping the public informed about weather conditions, ensuring access to safe drinking water and shaded areas at public and strategic locations, providing medical assistance, and meeting other essential needs of vulnerable communities within their districts.
