The Government of Tamil Nadu has initiated online coaching for the UPSC Civil Services Mains Examination 2025 as part of the Naan Mudhalvan scheme, aiming to support and empower aspirants across the state.

This marks the first time the government is extending online support specifically for the Mains stage, benefiting students who have cleared the Prelims and are now preparing for the second phase of the exam.
The programme is being implemented by the All India Civil Services Coaching Centre (AICSCC) in Chennai and is designed to provide high-quality training to 75 Mains candidates through virtual platforms. This move ensures equitable access to competitive exam coaching for students from rural and underserved regions who are unable to relocate to cities for physical coaching.
This strategic initiative comes after the state's steady improvement in UPSC success rates - with 57 candidates clearing the UPSC exam in 2024, up from just 27 in 2021. Officials aim to push this number further by providing quality education access and consistent support.
Accessibility: Bridges the gap between rural and urban candidates.
Flexibility: Enables aspirants to learn at their convenience without relocating.
Inclusivity: Encourages participation of women and economically disadvantaged candidates.
Performance-linked incentives: Motivates students through financial support tied to success in UPSC stages.
The Tamil Nadu government continues to invest in expanding coaching infrastructure, with plans to build a new 500-seat residential coaching facility in Chennai. These efforts highlight the state's commitment to nurturing administrative talent and promoting greater representation in the Indian civil services.
This move has been widely appreciated by students and educators alike for making UPSC Mains coaching more accessible, affordable, and inclusive.
