Supreme Court rebukes AIIMS for INI CET: Will it impact INI CET Result 2023 coming on Nov 19?

Supreme Court has rebuked AIIMS - the exam conducting body of INI CET - for failing to fill up over 450 PG Medical seats through the INI CET Exam 2022. The matter is listed in the apex court for the next hearing on November 17, 2022.

Will it affect the INI CET Result 2023?

Just so you know, the 2023 January edition of the INI CET Exam was held recently on the 13th of November and the result of the same is to be declared on November 19, 2022. With the ongoing court case and another mismanagement by AIIMS in INI CET 2023 exam timing and test centre allotment, the controversies are piling up and threatening to derail the plan to declare the INI CET Result for the January 2023 session on the scheduled date of 19 November 2022.

What is the INI CET 2022 Controversy?

To those unaware, AIIMS had cancelled the INI CET July 2022 Exam Counselling process after 2 rounds only, leaving many qualified students stranded. These students moved SC challenging the rogue attitude of AIIMS and the apex court is presently hearing the case. Fearing Court backlash, AIIMS had added up the vacant seats in the recently concluded exam (one that took place on 13 November 2022) bringing the total number of seats up to 1300.

How many INI CET in a year?

Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test or INI CET Exams are conducted by AIIMS New Delhi twice a year (January and July) for granting medical graduates (MBBS or equivalent) admission into postgraduate medical courses across premier medical institutions of the country. Those who clear this exam will get admission into courses such as MD, MS, DM, M.Ch, and MDS across premier medical institutes of India.

INI CET 2023 Exam Controversy:

The recently concluded exam - held on the 13th of November 2022 - was conducted to fill up a new batch of postgraduate Medical students whose session will begin in 2023 January. Students once again complained of poor management as all of a sudden the exam schedule was changed from one sitting to two sittings - a first for INI CET. It struck students like a bolt from the blue as they only got to know it through the admit card - which was issued just a few days before the exam. Moreover, many students were allotted exam centres in far-off locations.
