Supreme Court Intervention Sought Over Suspected Irregularities in NEET-UG Centre-Wise Scores

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently released the centre-wise marks for NEET-UG, following directives from Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud. This disclosure has unveiled some surprising and concerning results from specific exam centers, prompting calls for a thorough investigation.

SC: NEET UG Centre-Wise Scores Under Investigation

Unusual Scores at Rajkot Centre:

At an exam center in Rajkot, an extraordinary 12 students achieved scores exceeding 700 out of 720. Moreover, 85% of the candidates from this center qualified for NEET, a percentage that significantly deviates from the norm. These figures have raised serious questions about the integrity and fairness of the examination process at this location.

High Scores in Sikar and Rewari:

The anomalies are not confined to Rajkot alone. At a centre in Sikar, 8 students also scored over 700 marks out of 720. Similarly, in Rewari, 60 out of 264 students secured more than 600 marks. Such high concentrations of top scores suggest potential irregularities that necessitate further scrutiny and investigation.

Broader Implications and Need for Investigation:

These unusual scoring patterns suggest that the NEET scam might be more widespread than currently acknowledged by the media and the government. The consistency of these anomalies across multiple centers points to the possibility of systemic issues within the examination process.

The Role of the Supreme Court:

The Supreme Court's intervention is crucial in this context. Approximately 24 lakh students rely on NEET for their academic and professional futures. Ensuring the credibility and fairness of the examination system is paramount for maintaining trust and integrity in the educational process.

A thorough investigation is essential to identify any malpractices and to implement measures that will restore the credibility of NEET-UG, thereby safeguarding the aspirations and futures of millions of students across India.
