Supreme Court On Pending CBSE Board Exams 2020, Class 10 Exams Cancelled

The CBSE has informed the Supreme Court that it decided to cancel the pending board exams for both Class 10th and Class 12th. In its reply, CBSE has shared its decision to cancel the pending Class 10 exams scheduled from July 1. However, the Class 12 examination is optional. The sources suggest that Class 12 board exams 2020 will be conducted as soon as the situation is conducive.
Earlier, the Supreme Court asked the CBSE to check whether the pending papers of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2020 can be scrapped and marks can be awarded based on the internal assessment. The Court has asked the Board after a group of parents filed a plea that students could be exposed to Coronavirus (COVID-19) if they appear for the remaining board exams 2020.

Earlier, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a new exam schedule for remaining papers. The pending papers of CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2020 scheduled between July 1 and 15, 2020.
The Maharastra, Odisha and Delhi governments made a similar request to the HRD Ministry regarding scrapping of the board exams 2020 and promote students based on the practical examination and internal assessment.
CBSE Board Exams 2020 Cancelled For Abroad Students
In April, the CBSE has decided to cancel the remaining board exams for more than 250 schools located outside the country due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus pandemic. The Board announced that the exams were cancelled and students will be awarded marks on the basis of practical exams or an internal assessment. A group of parents filed their plea based on the CBSE decision on scrapping the exams in foreign countries.
Alternative Assessment Policy
The CBSE has scrapped the pending board exams and promote the students based on internal marks or scores. The Board is drafting the plans regarding the alternative grading system. Students and their parents should wait for the official announcement regarding the alternative assessment policy. The Board is also looking to promote the students based on the average marks from already completed papers.
ICSE Board To Follow CBSE Decision
The CISCE Board which is likely to conduct the board exams in July has given an option to candidates to either attend for the pending exams or accept score based on the internal assessment. The Board is also planning to follow the CBSE regarding conducting of the pending papers. However, there is no official announcement yet.
