Stanford University has recently released a Global list with the names of 3000 researchers who have provided standardised information on indexing. The list was prepared by an expert team led by John Ioannidis, Stanford University Professor. Reports suggest that 2% of the scientists featured in the list were of Indian origin. Out of these, 21 alumni on the list were from Jamia Millia University.

The university has released two lists, the first for career-long research and the next single recent year. The list was classified by considering 22 scientific and 176 sub-scientific fields. The scientists at Stanford University have recently created a database of top-cited scientists that provides standardised information on citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator (c-score).
As soon as the news broke out, Jamia Millia University released an official statement on its website. In the statement, the university said that Stanford University has released two separate lists. "The first coveted list is based on a career-long in which 07 JMI professors found their place. The second list for the year 2021 performance has 21 scientists from JMI".
JMI Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar also congratulated the winners and said "It is an acknowledgement of the high standard of research being undertaken at JMI. This recognition places the university on the global map of excellence and brings great pride to the institution."
