Ministry of Education has released the Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) guidelines for reopening of schools. Ministry has prepared the new guidelines considering the health and safety of students amid COVID-19 pandemic. Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank released the "SOP/Guidelines for Health and Safety protocols for Reopening of Schools and Learning with Physical/Social Distancing."
Earlier, Ministry of Home Affairs has released Unlock 5.0 Guidelines for phased re-opening of schools and colleges. The Centre has given authority to States or Union Terrorities to decide on reopening of schools and coaching institutions. Mr Nishank also assured that all the safety precautions to be taken for preparing and serving Midday Meal in schools.
Schools Reopening Guidelines
- Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation facilities in the school
- Form different Task Teams
- Seating plan
- Ensure Physical / social distancing at the Entry and Exit Points of the School
- School SOPs based on guidelines from States/UTs
- Display signages and markings for enforcing physical/social distancing and safety protocols
- Ensure availability of medical support
- Redefine the school attendance and sick leave policies
- Ensure Safe Residential Stay at Hostel
