Schools and colleges to reopen partially across the country after a hiatus of more than six months. All the educational institutions including universities in India have been shut down since March due to outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
As per the Unlock 4.0 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, students of Classes 9 to 12 are permitted to visit their schools and colleges from September 21 for taking guidance from their teachers. It has also permitted 50% of teaching and non-teaching staff to the schools for conducting online classes and other related work.

Schools Reopen Guidelines
- Schools and colleges outside the Containment Zones are permitted to reopen from September 21.
- Students of Classes 9 to 12 are permitted to visit the schools for taking the guidance.
- Not more than 50% of teaching and non-teaching staff allowed in the schools for conducting online classes and other related work.
- Schools and colleges must follow all the precautions which should be followed by everyone (students, teachers and employees).
- One should follow the social distancing guidelines including the use of face masks, maintaining at least six feet of distance, installation of Aarogya Setu App and prohibition of spitting.

Schools Reopen In Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh has given permission to reopen the schools and colleges partially from September 21. Students of Classes 9-12 can visit educational institutions on a voluntary base. The regular class activity is not permitted.
Schools Reopen In Assam
Schools and colleges in Assam to reopen partially for Classes 9 to 12 till September 30. Students can visit the schools for taking guidance.
Schools Reopen In Delhi
The Government of Delhi is against the reopening of schools for students of Classes 9-12 amid fear of a COVID-19 wave.
The notice of the Delhi Directorate of School Education reads, "All schools will remain closed for all students till 05.10.2020. However, online classes and teaching-learning activities will continue as usual and HoS (Heads of Schools) are authorized to call teachers/ staff (as per requirement) for smooth conduct of online classes, teaching-learning activities and any other work."
Schools Reopen In Goa
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has clearly mentioned that reopening of schools in Goa will remain close till October 2. After reviewing the COVID situation and consulting the academic experts, the decision regarding the reopening of schools will be taken.
Schools Reopen In Gujarat
Gujarat has also decided to shut all the schools and colleges for all students. Education Minister of Gujarat Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that it's not mandatory to open the schools as per the Unlock 4 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
