The Telangana government is set to reopen educational institutions, including schools and colleges, from September 1. In the wake of Covid-19, the schools will resume with strict precautionary measures in place, including the use of masks, sanitisation, and social distance, among other precautions. Since mid-March, schools have been closed, and classes have been held online.
Following a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the decision was made. Schools for classes 8 to 12 are set to resume, according to reports. Classes are scheduled to be held both online and offline, and students who choose to attend physical classes would need parental permission.
The state had planned to resume schools on July 1, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this was postponed.
The CM, during the meeting, asked all Panchayati Raj and Municipal Department ministers and officials to clean and sanitise all educational institutions and hostels in towns and villages by August 30.

Experts also reviewed the actions taken by various state governments across the country to reopen educational institutions, as well as the strategies they are following. Corona situations were discussed with state medical experts across the state.
Medical professionals have stated that the extended closure of educational institutions has resulted in a rise in psychological stress among students, particularly school children, and has the potential to negatively impact their future.
