Samsung's commitment to fostering technological innovation and gender equality in the STEM fields is evident through its Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) program, which was recently launched at the GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysore. This marks a significant step as it is Karnataka's first all-women's engineering college to embrace this initiative. The SIC program, which began in September 2022, aims to equip India's youth with industry-relevant technology skills, including Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Big Data, and Coding & Programming. These skills are imparted through a curriculum meticulously designed by Samsung's global R&D experts.

The initiative provides students with the chance to receive both offline and online training in a classroom setting. Additionally, they will engage in innovative projects under the mentorship of professionals from Samsung R&D Institute India, Bangalore (SRI-B), and GSSS Institute. This hands-on approach not only prepares students for the industry but also encourages the development of a new generation of women leaders in technology.
Expanding the Reach of Samsung Innovation Campus
In a significant expansion, Samsung Southwest Asia plans to increase its SIC enrolment to 3,500 students by 2024, up from 3,000 in 2023. This growth underscores Samsung’s dedication to corporate social responsibility through its educational initiatives. By nurturing future-tech leaders in India, Samsung aims to empower the country's youth with the skills necessary for both their personal and professional development, thereby contributing to India's stature as a global technology hub.
"At Samsung, we believe innovation thrives when opportunities are inclusive. It brings us immense pride to inaugurate Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) at Karnataka's first women's engineering college, a space where bright young minds will explore, experiment, and push the boundaries of technology. Aligned with the government's #DigitalIndia and #MakeinIndia campaigns, it empowers students to drive technological progress from within the country. We look forward to moulding future women leaders as they create, innovate, and transform the world with technology," highlighted Mohan Rao Goli, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director, SRI-B.
Collaboration and Curriculum
Anupama B Pandit, Secretary of GSSS (R), Mysore, expressed gratitude for the partnership with SRI-B, emphasizing the program's role in preparing women for future workforce challenges. "Our collaboration with SRI-B ensures maximum impact, providing industry-relevant courses and niche skills, strong technical foundations, and practical exposure through capstone projects. This initiative reinforces our commitment to powering #DigitalIndia by bridging the digital skills gap and preparing women for the future workforce. Through a structured curriculum, the students will gain hands-on experience in problem-solving and emerging technologies, enhancing both employability and innovation. We deeply appreciate SRI-B for this invaluable partnership, which empowers young women technologists to drive technological advancements," she stated.
Moreover, the reach of SIC is not limited to a single institution. Samsung has established SICs in seven other institutes across Karnataka, including renowned colleges like the BNM Institute of Technology and the Cambridge Institute of Technology, among others, as well as at IIIT-Kurnool. Altogether, these initiatives have trained over 800 students, providing them with the essential skills needed to secure relevant technological opportunities.
To conclude, Samsung's initiative at the GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women in Mysore is a monumental step towards advancing gender equality in STEM and supporting India's journey towards becoming a global technological powerhouse. Through comprehensive training and mentorship, Samsung is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology in India, fostering innovation, and empowering a new generation of women leaders in the field.
