Indian Railway To Recruit 2.30 Lakh Employees Over The Next Two Years

Indian Railways is all set to undertake another mega recruitment drive with approximately 2.30 lakh vacancies in the coming two years. This is one more mega RRB recruitment drive, in addition to the on-going recruitment process of RRB Group C, Group D and Junior Engineer (JE) posts. The railways had initiated recruitment of around 1.5 lakh vacancies 14 months ago.

 

The official statement has been released by the Indian Railways regarding the upcoming recruitment of 2.30 lakh vacancies. The recruitment will be made in two phases over the next two years for various cadres of Indian Railways. The notification reads that these recruitment drives will fix long-standing issues of overtime work, delay in project implementation, low efficiency and constraints on upgradation.

RRB Recruitment For 2.30 Lakh Vacancies

At present, Indian Railways has a sanctioned strength of 15,06,598 lakh employees, out of which, only 12,23,622 employees are on roll. The recruitment is for 2,82,976 vacant posts. The recruitment drive had been initiated for 1,51,548 posts 14 months ago, which is still happening now. The remaining posts are 1,31,428. The job aspirants have to note that approximately 53,000 and 46,000 railway employees will be retiring from their services in 2019-20 and 2020-21, respectively.

RRB Recruitment Phase-wise

The recruitment of 2.3 lakh vacancies will be held in two phases. The first stage will be held for 1,31,328 in the month of February/March 2019. As per the reposts, around 19,715, 9,857 and 35,485 vacancies will be reserved for candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories, respectively. The most important development in this recruitment drive is 10% of these vacancies shall be filled in from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The first phase of the recruitment cycle will be completed by April-May 2020.

The second phase of the recruitment will be for approximately 99,000 vacancies. Out of which, around 15,000, 7,500, 27,000 and 10,000 posts will be reserved for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories, respectively.

This mega recruitment drive will be conducted for various positions in the Indian Railways. Hence, the eligibility criteria will vary from one to another. The recruitment drive will also generate indirect employment.
