While addressing the young MBAs at WeSchool, through a presentation aptly titled ‘Heliobactor - the ease and difficulty of a new discovery', Dr Robin Warren had the following words of wisdom to share, "when we started on our journey, scientific and technological tools were not advanced. Science believed that bacteria couldn't grow in stomach, good biopsies were rare, and there were no clinical specimens. Gastritis was not understood well by the medical fraternity. But we refused to be discouraged, kept experimenting with determination and after years of dedicated hard work, discovered the bacterial strain. It was a quite a miracle and opened new vistas in discovering treatments for Gastritis and peptic ulcers for making the life of human beings more productive and healthy".

The students and faculty listened in rapt attention as a lesson in scientific creativity and innovation unfolded in front of their eyes.

Prof Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WeSchool, a thought leader himself who was one of the experts sharing his ideas on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Indian Science Congress had invited the noble laureate to share his vignettes on life with the young talent at Welingkar.

Dr Salunkhe ardently believes that "irrespective of the area of one's pursuits the basics of excellence remain the same- dedication, sagacity, commitment and perseverance. Warren's expertise focuses on Medicine, yet the axioms of a life socially impactful are applicable to all domains, may it be medicine or business. Such interactions with global performers give a much valuable insight into the students making them more global and futuristic in their outlook. Design thinking and innovation are at the core of WeSchool philosophy and such interactions reiterate the same mind-sets among the students. Interaction with a scientist of such a great stature who has dedicated his life to research for a healthy global society inspires us to take forward the agenda of social reforms through initiatives like Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan among others."

The students had their share of questions. A relaxed Warren enjoyed every part of it as he happily responded to the volley of questions showered upon him by the young minds.

"Qualities of consistency, strong belief and patience are critical for breakthrough innovation to happen irrespective of the field or sector that one is working in. Interacting with Dr Warren was indeed an inspiring and learning experience for us" shared one of the students from WeSchool.
