The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Post Graduate students which was scheduled to be conducted on 18 April 2021 has been postponed. The Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan announced the postponement of NEET PG 2021 Exams due to a sudden rise in Covid-19 cases across the country.
The decision has been made after the protests against conducting the NEET PG 2021 Exam in an offline mode amid the second wave of coronavirus across the country.
"Decision has been taken keeping the wellbeing of our young medical students in mind," tweeted Dr. Harsh Vardhan.

Meanwhile, the National Board of Examinations has released the NEET PG 2021 Admit Cards on 13 April 2021 on its official website.
A group of doctors moved to Supreme Court seeking the postponement of the medical entrance examination. According to their plea, the aspirants who would be appearing in the exam are doctors treating Covid-19 patients daily. Due to the sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in the country, there is an acute shortage of doctors and hence the examination on 18 April 2021 was against the public interest.
India recorded over 2 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases as of 15 April 2021 which is the highest ever since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Many states have decided to postpone Board examinations at this time of crisis.
