Manpower Shortage in India Navy; 10896 vacant posts

The Indian Navy is still dealing with a manpower shortage, with 9,119 vacancies for sailors and 1,777 for commanders. The naval force is short 10,896 personnel as of October 31, according to information presented to Parliament on Friday. In response to a question, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt stated that 323 officers would be recruited in 2021 and 386 in 2022. In 2021, 5,547 sailors joined the force, while 5,171 joined in 2022.

The Navy's authorised officer and sailor strength is 11,979 and 76,649. According to Bhatt, 323 cops were hired in 2021, with 386 hired in 2022. In 2021, the Navy will have 5,547 sailors. He said that the figure in 2022 would be 5,171.

According to Ajay Bhatt, a technology development fund will be established to provide financial help to Indian enterprises, startups, and academic and scientific institutions for the development of defence and dual-use technologies. The fund is also intended to engage private enterprises, particularly MSMEs and startups, in the culture of military technology creation and development, and to support them with grant in aid, according to Bhatt's written response.
