Maharashtra State Board Syllabus Reduces By 25% For Academic Year 2020-21

The Maharashtra Government has decided to reduce the school syllabus for the academic year 2020-21. The proposal was approved by the Maharashtra State Council for Educational Research and Training (MSCERT) to reduce the syllabus by 25% for Classes 1 to 12.

School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted, "In view of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the state, the State Education Amendment and Training Council had proposed a 25 per cent reduction in the syllabus for Classes I to XII of the academic session 2020-21. The state government has approved this proposal."

Maharashtra is not the first state to come up with syllabus reduction. The decision was first taken by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on July 7. The CBSE reduced the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 due to the delay in beginning the academic year. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh State governments had also reduced the syllabus of students studying.

Earlier, Maharashtra's has decided to cancel all final-year university exams due to Coronavirus outbreak. The Government also launched four YouTube channels for Marathi and Urdu medium students targeting from Class 1 to 10.
