Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that the Maharashtra board exams 2021 of Classes 10 and 12 have been postponed. The Government has taken the decision in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases. Minister also announced that the government will be writing to the CBSE, ICSE, IB, Cambridge boards requesting them to reconsider their exam dates. Earlier, the board exams were scheduled to begin from the last week of April.

In a series of tweets, Minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted, "Imp Announcement: Given the current #COVID-19 situation in Maharashtra, we've postponed state board exams for class 10th & 12th. She added, "Keeping in mind the schedule of entrance exams for professional courses,class 12th exams will be held by end of May, while 10th standard exams will be in June. We're closely monitoring the health situation. Fresh dates for these exams will be announced accordingly"

Earlier, the Maharashtra government has decided to promote students of Classes 1 to 9 and 11 without exams due to the COVID pandemic. The Board is putting its best foot forward to release the revised date sheet for HSC and SSC exams.
