Maharashtra Government Launches ‘Let’s Go to School Campaign’ to Improve Schools
The Maharashtra government has launched a special 'Let's Go to School Campaign' across the state with the aim of improving the quality of education, strengthening school infrastructure and promoting value-based learning among students.
The campaign will focus on improving the overall school environment and ensuring that students have access to better facilities and a supportive learning atmosphere. The initiative is scheduled to be conducted from September 5 to October 20, 2026, covering the period up to Dussehra.
The campaign has been announced during the birth centenary year of Balasaheb Thackeray and in connection with the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Maharashtra Campaign to Focus on School Infrastructure
The initiative comes at a time when concerns over the condition of government schools and educational infrastructure have gained attention in several parts of the country.
The campaign seeks to encourage efforts towards improving physical infrastructure in schools while also strengthening the quality of education. Better facilities, effective teaching practices and value-based learning are expected to form an important part of the broader initiative.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke welcomed the Maharashtra government's decision, describing it as an important step towards addressing the infrastructure challenges faced by schools, particularly in rural areas.
'School Thik Karo' Campaign Background
The Maharashtra initiative has also been linked by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to its 'School Thik Karo' campaign, which has raised concerns about the condition of government-run schools in different states.
According to the CJP, its campaign had highlighted problems affecting students in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, following which authorities took steps to address certain infrastructure-related concerns. One example cited was a government school building in Jaipur that was reportedly demolished after concerns were raised about its unsafe condition.
The group has described the Maharashtra government's latest initiative as another development in its efforts to draw attention to school infrastructure.
Restrictions on Entry to Some Government Schools
The wider campaign has also sparked discussions around access to government schools in some districts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Authorities in certain areas have reportedly introduced restrictions on the entry of outsiders, journalists, YouTubers, social media users and civil society representatives without prior permission.
A petition challenging such restrictions was also filed before the Supreme Court. However, the bench declined to entertain the petition under Article 32 of the Constitution of India.
Focus on Quality and Value-Based Education
The 'Let's Go to School Campaign' is expected to place emphasis on more than just physical infrastructure. Improving the quality of education and encouraging value-based learning are also key objectives.
By combining infrastructure improvements with educational and developmental initiatives, the Maharashtra government aims to create a better environment for students and strengthen the functioning of schools across the state.
The campaign, running from September 5 to October 20, 2026, is expected to bring greater attention to school facilities, teaching quality and student needs, particularly in government schools. Its implementation and outcomes will determine the long-term impact of the initiative on Maharashtra's school education system.
