Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has unveiled a forward-looking vision for the state's technology and employment sectors, announcing plans to create five lakh IT jobs by 2031. This initiative is part of Kerala's long-term strategy to position itself as a major digital economy hub in India.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government is investing heavily in expanding IT parks, promoting startups, and developing digital infrastructure. Projects such as Technopark Phase IV in Thiruvananthapuram, Infopark Kochi expansion, and Cyberpark Kozhikode development are expected to play a pivotal role in achieving this employment target.
The new plan focuses on making Kerala a preferred destination for global IT companies by improving connectivity, providing skilled manpower, and fostering innovation through collaboration with educational institutions. Training programs will be introduced under the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM) to prepare youth for high-demand tech roles in AI, blockchain, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
The initiative aligns with the Kerala Digital Mission, focusing on expanding Techno Parks, IT corridors, and innovation centers across the state. Special emphasis will be placed on artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, robotics, and software development sectors, ensuring job opportunities for skilled youth.
The Chief Minister also announced plans to strengthen public-private partnerships (PPP) and support women-led startups to ensure inclusive growth.
Additionally, the state is promoting a startup-friendly environment by simplifying business registration and offering funding through the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM). Over the next six years, the government aims to attract more foreign investments and create an ecosystem that encourages research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Chief Minister Vijayan emphasized that this initiative is not only about job creation but also about ensuring inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Women, differently-abled individuals, and rural youth will be given equal opportunities in IT skill training and employment.
The government also plans to integrate IT education into school and college curricula, ensuring that the next generation is digitally empowered. By 2031, Kerala envisions itself as a global innovation destination, combining skilled human resources, strong digital infrastructure, and a sustainable development approach.
