The Kerala Board has officially announced the exam schedule for the 2025 Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and Higher Secondary Examination (HSE), a crucial milestone for students across the state. Education Minister V. Shivankutty shared that the SSLC exams will run from March 3 to March 26, while the HSE exams will take place from March 6 to March 29. This early announcement provides students and educators ample time to gear up for these important assessments.

SSLC Exam Breakdown: Key Dates and Subjects
The SSLC exams kick off on March 3 with the First Language Part 1, covering languages like Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada. This is followed by English on March 5 and the First Language Part 2 on March 7. Subjects like Social Science, Mathematics, and various sciences will follow, with the final exam, Biology, concluding on March 26.
To help students prepare, Kerala has organized multiple practice tests. The SSLC IT Model Exam will take place from January 20 to January 30, 2025, followed by the General IT Exam from February 1 to February 14. Additionally, a comprehensive SSLC Model Exam is scheduled from February 17 to February 21, starting at 9:30 am each day. These preparatory exams are designed to boost students' confidence and familiarize them with the exam format.
Efficient Evaluation Process for Timely Results
Kerala's meticulous planning extends to post-exam processes as well, with 72 evaluation camps set up for thorough grading. Students and families can expect the SSLC results by the third week of May, ensuring a quick turnaround that keeps the momentum going for the next academic steps.
HSE Exams: Plus One and Plus Two Schedules Aligned
For higher secondary students, the First Year (Plus One) Public Exams will coincide with the SSLC exams, running from March 6 to March 29. Additionally, Improvement/Supplementary Exams for First Year students from the 2024 batch will occur during this period, while Second Year (Plus Two) Exams align with the SSLC schedule, from March 3 to March 26. This unified scheduling ensures smooth logistics and efficient exam management across grade levels.
Record-Breaking Student Participation and Streamlined Exam Preparation
This year, a remarkable 4,28,951 students have registered for the SSLC exams, reflecting the high level of engagement and commitment among Kerala's students. While final numbers will be confirmed after exam registration closes, this significant enrollment emphasizes the importance of these exams within Kerala's education system.
The state has already started distributing answer sheets for SSLC, HSE, and vocational exams to ensure exam centers are fully equipped. This level of preparation showcases Kerala's dedication to supporting students throughout their exam journey.
Ensuring Fairness and Integrity in Special Privilege Provisions
Addressing concerns about the use of special privilege facilities for students with learning disabilities, Minister Shivankutty urged students and parents to use these resources responsibly. While provisions like the use of scribes and a 25% grace mark are available for students in need, cases of misuse have been reported. In the last SSLC exam, 26,518 students applied for special privileges. The Minister's appeal underscores the importance of these facilities reaching those who genuinely require them, ensuring a fair examination process for all.
