Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on Tuesday that all higher educational institutions, including technical, polytechnic, and medical, will be reopened for final year students from October 4 onwards.
The Chief Minister, on the other hand, stated that the institutes' reopening will be contingent on all final-year students, professors, and staff receiving at least the first dosage of vaccination.
As a result, he stated during a press conference here in the evening that all final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students, professors, and staff must take their first dosage of vaccine this week.
Those who are eligible for the second dose should take it as soon as possible, he advised. He went on to say that the education of students in classes 10 and 12 is critical, and the school teachers should complete their vaccinations by this week.

He instructed the departments of public and higher education to make the required preparations and stated that school teachers would be given first priority in vaccination. He directed the concerned departments to take the necessary actions in this regard within ten days.
Kerala is currently grappling with an increase in COVID-19 cases on a daily basis, as well as cases of the Nipah virus.
Some schools in several other states have already reopened for some classes. On September 6, Karnataka schools resumed for classes 6 to 8. The COVID-19 guidelines and all standard operating procedures (SOP) were followed during the offline classes.
